Howl documentary in the works

Telling Pictures' documentarians Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman have been quietly but diligently brewing up a project we can't quite categorize that seems to get more brilliant by the day. Part biopic, part documentary, part animation, it has attracted the likes of Gus Van Sant as Executive Producer, and James Franco who will portray the young Allen.  David Strathairn, Alan Alda, Jeff Daniels, Mary-Louise Parker and Paul Rudd are on board for the Obscenity trial reenactment, while graphic novelist Eric Drooker who collaborated with Allen on his Illuminated Poems book is in charge of animation.
